, III,was born in New York City, and is the eldest son of seven children born to the late William B. Sutton, Jr., and the late Floydie G. Sutton. Pastor Suttonis married tothe formerMs.Maria Eugenia Kerr, who is a native of San José, CostaRica, and they are the proud parents of twodaughters, Christina and Crystal, and one grandson, Noah Murdock Sutton.

Pastor Suttonwas educated in the Public SchoolSystem of New York Citygraduating from High School with a New YorkStateRegents Diploma with Honors.  He graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, a Master of Divinity Degree (Summa Cum Laude) from the New Brunswick Theological Seminary in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree fromthePrinceton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey. Pastor Suttonhas been the recipient ofnumerousawards and honors for outstanding achievementsin preaching,evangelism,biblical studies, professionalministry and community service. Pastor Suttonwas licensed and ordained as an American Baptist Minister at the Walker Memorial Baptist Church, in the Bronx, New York, under the dynamic and vibrant leadership of his Pastor,the ReverendDr. J. Albert Bush, Sr.

On January 1, 1998,Pastor William B. Sutton, III, assumed the responsibilities asUnder-shepherd of the First Baptist Church Family. Pastor Sutton’sministry has centeredonthe empowerment and mobilization of the laity and lay leadership of the congregationand on strengtheningthe spiritual and administrative aspects ofthecongregation.  UnderPastor Sutton’sleadership,theChurch places a high emphasis upon Christian Discipleship,Leadership Training, ChristianStewardship, and Home and Foreign Mission Support. In September of 2005, under the visionary leadership ofPastor Sutton, the First Baptist Church family embarked upon a community venture where the congregation has committed itself to the building of amultimillion-dollarFamily LifeComplex (Village)in order to serve the Stratford and Greater Bridgeport Community in order to advance the Kingdom of God.  The first building of the Family Life Village is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2016.

 Of all the thingsPastor Suttonwould have us to know about him, he sayshis mostprized possession is he knows he has eternal life because he is trusting in Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.
